Wiscombe Park 26 April 2014

I drove down to Devon early on Saturday morning  to watch the Wiscombe Park hillclimbs this weekend, mistakenly thinking (like some other competitors) that both days were HSA rounds, though the website clearly says that only Sunday is a round in the HSA championship.  It was cold, blustery and wet, but not as wet s today I hear. Here are a few photos.

Oh, and it was a little slippery…

All OK.

Whoops!

Whoops!

Whoops!

Whoops!

but not everyone came off…

I was staying with friends near Wiscombe on Saturday night and stopped to pick up some wine, only to find when I returned to the car that I had no clutch.  The recovery company came out and said they couldn’t do anything but agreed I could be recovered today, so this morning we were loaded onto a low loader and I didn’t return to Wiscombe.  I heard from some of the guys racing there that it was wetter than yesterday.

When I got back to Kinver I received a phone call to say that someone I’d shown the Van Diemen to on Friday night wanted to buy it and we agreed a price, so that’s that!  I didn’t even have to advertise it as a chance conversation at Loton last week resulted in it changing hands. Regular readers of this blog will like this… the new owner is going to respray it.

So the hunt is on for an interesting roadgoing car – ideally a classic car –  for hillclimbs and touring rallies.

Go on, leave a comment!
